  2. USER INSTRUCTIONS:
  3. EARLY BICYCLES - WINDOWS SCREEN SAVER
  4.  
  5. If you chose the screen option when installing EARLY BICYCLES,
  6. your screen saver program has been installed into the 
  7. Windows Desktop of the Control Panel. BE CERTAIN YOUR 
  8. MONITOR IS SET TO 256 COLOR PALETTE. If you have an old 
  9. generic VGA monitor which can only display 16 colors, I'm afraid 
  10. these images will look terrible. Sorry.

  12. 1) Accessing your screen saver is easy and requires only three 
  13. steps:
  14.   a)  Double Click on the Control Panel
  15.   b)  Open the Desktop Item
  16.   c)  Select your screen saver from the list of screen savers.
  17.       EARLY BICYCLES appears in the list of screen savers as
  18.       MINICAT NOT EARLY BICYCLES. (I'll that explain shortly.)
  19.       If you click on Setup, you will be presented with a dialog 
  20.       with which you can customize EARLY BICYCLES as a screen 
  21.       saver.

  23. 2) Customizing the EARLY BICYCLES Screen Saver with Setup.
  24.    a) The 'Effect' list gives you a choice of two special effects
  25.         that can be applied to the display.
  26.    b) Delay allows you change the number of seconds each image  
  27.         is displayed. Or you can enable 'Random' and thereby give   
  28.         control over this variable to the computer.
  29.    c) 'Effect Size' changes the 'grain' of the dissolves between        
  30.        images. The smaller the 'Effect Size', the longer to it takes 
  31.        images to appear on screen.
  32.    d) Enable 'Show Titles' will cause the title given to each
  33.        image to appear at the bottom of the screen when it is 
  34.        displayed.
  35.    e) You can also 'Password Protect', the EARLY BICYCLES
  36.        screen saver if you wish.

  38. 3) Why the strange terminology? What do MINICAT and CATALOG
  39.      mean? EARLY BICYCLES is a publication in a long series of      
  40.      visionary art and historic transportation photo album/screen 
  41.      savers to be released by Reality Software. The entire  
  42.      collection is called a Mini-Catalog (MINICAT) and each product 
  43.      within MINICAT is a CATALOG. If you buy other publications in 
  44.      this series AND choose to install each as a Windows screen 
  45.      saver, then the title of each will appear in the drop down      
  46.      CATALOG list at the top of the Setup dialog which is accessed 
  47.      from the Desktop item of the Control Panel when you choose 
  48.      MINICAT as your screen saver. See the manual in the EARLY
  49.      BICYCLES album for further explanation of these terms and their 
  50.      structural use.

  53. WINDOW'S BASICS

  55. I.   Loading the Control Panel:
  56.  
  57.      a) The Control Panel is generally found in the MAIN group of      
  58.           your Program Manager. Execute the Control Panel by double 
  59.           clicking the Control Panel icon.
  60.  
  61.      b) If you cannot find the MAIN group or the Control Panel icon, 
  62.           you can run the control panel from the File Manager by 
  63.           double  clicking CONTROL.EXE in your main Windows 
  64.           directory (usually called WINDOWS).

  66. II.  Run the Windows Desktop:

  68.     To run the Desktop of the Control Panel, double click the     
  69.     Desktop icon in the Control Panel.
